Driving through the Guadalupe Mountains in New Mexico to Carlsbad Caverns

Our trip into New Mexico has so far been one of the highlights of traveling with our skoolie.  Everyroad and everything along the road just seems to look diffrent from our bus-level view.  Suddenly everything is new, and even the mundane seems exciting at the time.

Taking the bus up New Mexico’s stretch of the Guadalupe Mountains into the Carlsbad Caverns National Park was no different.  Although neither of us had even been to Carlsbad Caverns, we had driven through plenty of mountains in our pre-skoolie roadtrips, this should not have been any different.  However, between Florida and Texas there are very few features on the landscape anyone could call a “mountain.”  So in fact this was the skoolie’s first ever mountain climb.
